To Improve Lives with Light
Throughout the ages, Man has been fascinated by the Sun. Sunshine Sciences wants to know, “What is the Science of Sunlight?” How does light influence the lives of people, plants and animals? Research already shows that light influences our health for good or ill. Light affects us physically, mentally and emotionally. We believe that light is key to life and that indoor lighting should closely match the light that we have lived under for eons.
Natural sunlight itself is the blueprint for Indoor Sunshine®.
According to Alberta Education, Alberta, Canada,
“There is no area of our mental and bodily functioning that the sun does not influence. Our bodies were designed to receive and use it in a wide range of ways. We were not designed to hide from it in houses, offices, factories and schools. Sunshine, reaching us through our eyes and our skin, exercises a subtle control over us from birth to death, from head to tail.”
Sunshine Sciences® manufactures, distributes and sells Indoor Sunshine® Full Color Spectrum light. We believe they are the best full spectrum light available plus they are long lasting and save energy. Our carefully developed Full Color Spectrum light is like a rainbow. It includes the visible wavelengths of light plus UVA and UVB in the same proportion as natural sunlight. It’s just not as strong. The light comes in compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) of various wattages and fluorescent linear lamps (tubes) of different lengths.
You’ll love it or your money back. Guaranteed.
Research Roots
The roots of mankind’s interest in the effect of sunlight on health dates back to Heliopolis in Egypt around 2300 BCE and ancient Greece, more recently from 1903 when The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Dr. Niels Ryberg Finsen from the Faroe Islands (later Iceland and the Netherlands) “in recognition of his contribution to the treatment of diseases, especially lupus vulgaris, with concentrated light radiation, whereby he has opened a new avenue for medical science”.
He has himself given the following short description of his work.
“My disease [Pick’s disease] has played a very great role for my whole development… The disease was responsible for my starting investigations on light: I suffered from anaemia and tiredness, and since I lived in a house facing the north, I began to believe that I might be helped if I received more sun. I therefore spent as much time as possible in its rays. As an enthusiastic medical man I was of course interested to know what benefit the sun really gave. I considered it from the physiological point of view but got no answer. I drew the conclusion that I was right and the physiology wrong. From this time (about 1888) I collected all possible observations about animals seeking the sun, and my conviction that the sun had a useful and important effect on the organism (especially the blood?) became stronger and stronger. What this useful effect really was, I could not find; I have been working for this goal ever since but have not been able to find exactly what I have been seeking, though we have gone somewhat forward.”
Later Finsen said, “During the last few years, I have, however, become convinced that it does not help to wait until I find the answer I am looking for in the laboratory, but that it is justified to work also with clinical experiments. Thus both approaches can be carried out simultaneously in the effort to reach the final goal.” ~ Dr. Niels Ryberg Finsen

Customer satisfaction is key to our success. We are here to work with and for you.
Our Indoor Sunshine® CFLs (compact fluorescent lights) are guaranteed for two years with residential use and one year with commercial use. However, third party testing for Energy Star rated them to last 10,000 hours. Translated, that means you could use them for 5 hours a day for 365 days a year and they are expected to last 5.5 years providing they have a steady electrical supply in the building and in the fixture. This excludes fixtures with dimmer switches and touch-on or clap-on lamps since those do not supply a steady electrical current.
